Alone time is weird. Especially when you've had little to none in a very long time. But what I have learned is that alone time is SO good for your mind, body & soul. Once you get past the feelings of being lonely, sometimes even selfish.. you actually start to enjoy the time spent with yourself.   It's time to reflect, time to think about the future, time to plan out your goals and dreams.. not to mention, when you're alone.. you get to do whatever YOU want. Treat yourself.

Here's a list of things I have done alone.. many times recently. I recommend giving them each a shot. And of course, there's tons more things to add to this list so please share what you like to do as well!

1) Go see a movie. Seriously. Don't knock it til you've tried it.

2) Take yourself out to dinner. Take yourself to your favorite restaurant, order your favorite dish & drink. Hell, order the biggest thing on the menu and laugh at others staring at you in the process..

3) Sit at a coffee shop. Sacramento has about 87 thousand coffee shops. I am slowly making my way down the list.

4) Take a bubble bath. Honestly, it's a bit difficult to do this with another person unless you have a bathtub the size of a jacuzzi. So this one's kind of a given. ;)

5) Watch a sunset. Watch the entire thing. It's the best thing ever.

6) Explore a city you've never been before. I recently just up and went to Napa and it was so fun. I sat down and ate lunch at a nice restaurant with a glass of wine and just took in my surroundings.

7) Volunteer at an animal shelter. Have not done this yet but recently found a program I want to get involved in. How amazing does alone time sound with little baby kittens. Am I right?

8) Go to church. Now, I didn't do this intentionally. But I did it because I had nobody to go with. But after I went I felt like I was able to take in a lot more.

9) Go for a walk. Another given, I'd say.

10) Sit at the park. I've spent many mornings/evenings sitting at Capitol Park just people watching, reading, taking photos, etc. It definitely beats sitting inside the apartment.

11) Go to a sporting event. I went to a Rivercats baseball game and sat out on the lawn for $10 with a giant hotdog and beer. Livin' my best life.

12) Cook your favorite meal or bake your favorite dessert. Who says you need somebody else to bake chocolate chip cookies...?

13) Go to a bookstore or library.  I'm not a huge reader but I love wandering around Barnes and Noble with a coffee in hand looking at books about everything you could possibly think of.

Hopefully by now you've gotten the idea that you really don't need another person to do whatever it is you want to do. If you sit around and wait for somebody else to go with you to do the things you want to do, you might miss out on a lot of great stuff.

Not to mention, one thing I am slowly learning and getting used to, is that time to yourself should be a priority. Alone time and self-care are so very important.

If you try any of these, please comment below and let me know!
